It's taken me this long (yes, I know it's been 2 1/2 months!) to post about it because there are so many fun pictures... and because of a Christmas project we were working on for Ryan's family... but enough of the intro and excuses... get ready for the longest post ever...
The resort had so many great amenities including a splash park for the kids. They loved it!
Coleman and Alyza hanging out with the floaty toys.
Coleman loved this slide! I love that happy face of his.
They had fun activities for the kids each day. Coleman and Sam had their faces painted like pirates....
....and Olivia got a beautiful butterfly.
One of the kid's activities was mini golf--Ryan helped the kids with their putting skills (I needed help too, but I was on my own :)).
There was a a really fun play area too.
The "Jammy Walk" is a favorite tradition with Grandma and Grandpa Harper. This year the kids got some fun Halloween flashlights. Their walk got cut a little short because the little boys were trying to kiss the frogs (or toads?).We spent a couple of days at Sea World... it was so fun!
Liv and Terri watching a show together at Sea World.
Walking, walking, walking. We all managed to stay together for the most part (quite a feat for a group of 13).
Here's our family with Alyza and Sam.
Ryan, Terri, Scott, and I went on the roller coaster at Sea World... it was full of turns and loops and fun.... and resulted in a headache for this tourist.
The kids joined the street performers... I love this picture because all of their feet are off the ground.
Who's idea was it to sit in the "Soak Zone?" Not mine... but I went along for the "fun" of it. We certainly got SOAKED! I'm still not convinced that getting soaked by any sea creature is fun :). If you can't spot me or Coleman or Olivia it's because we are covered by the thousands of huge water droplets that seemed to descend upon is in slow motion.
Here's our sopping wet group right after the Shamu show. It was pouring rain so we ducked under whatever we could find to "stay dry" which was humorous since we had all gotten soaked during the show.
Olivia and Coleman in an ice cave. Brrr!
Sea World had lots of fun Halloween decorations around. We liked the puffy lip pumpkins.
We had fun feeding the stingrays (although I maintain that the water is stinky).
Sea World has a great play area for the kids with several kiddie rides. They loved the ropes area.
Coleman had fun in all of the tubes and crawling places.
Here are the kids with Ryan and a walrus. We also spent a day at Disney World's Magic Kingdom. It was great!
Here we are on the tram from the parking lot to the monorail which goes to the park.
Coleman and Olivia just outside the monorail to go into the park. Don't they look excited?
Here is the gang at the entrance to Magic Kingdom. What a good looking group!
I think this was an Aladdin ride (doesn't that look like a flying carpet?).
Here are all of the kids with Goofy.
The obligatory pose with Dumbo (the wait was WAY too long for the ride, so we compromised and just took a picture).
We love the speedway--Coleman was a crazy driver! Good thing they have those track things to keep us somewhat contained. We also spent an afternoon at Clearwater Beach which is in the Tampa Bay area.
They have a really fun playground, warm water, and cool seashells.
Aw, aren't we cute together?
Sweet Liv.
I love this photo of Coleman laughing.
Liv, Coleman, and me.
This lovely photo (taken by Bruce) probably looks familiar since it graced the top of our blog for a few months.
Clearwater Beach always has beautiful sunsets and fun street performers along with a few artisan booths. This was a favorite spot to visit. We had a great time on our trip, thanks to Terri and Bruce and the Harpers and Johnsons!
As I look out our back window at the heaps of snow and icicles... I'm wishing for some of the Florida warmth and sunshine!
**Do you ever go to Costco while you are on vacation?
**Are you a "soak zone" enjoyer or complainer (like me)?
**Did you make it to the end of this post?
Looks like a lot of fun! We always stock up at costco or other local stores while on vaca! I just really love to travel. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI totally made it to the end! Loved the pictures and the captions. Thanks for sharing. And count me out of the soak zone. We lived ten minutes away from SeaWorld when we lived in SD and we absolutely loved it. But I could never be convinced to sit in the soak zone. It was too much fun to make fun of those that did. Glad you had a great trip!
ReplyDeleteWow... long post indeed! Yep, I go to Costco on vacation, I'm a soak zone enjoyer (from outside the soak zone) and I made it :)
ReplyDeleteI was wondering if I was going to get to see these pics! Looks like you guys had a blast! I missed goin with you guys, but being 8 months prego I think I would've dropped dead the first day. =) I love the sunset pictures! Sunsets are my favorite, especially from Florida, so gorgeous. thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI try to always stay away from the soak zone. I can't seem to warm up after being soaked to the bone! Costco....um, no. But I'm sure I will visit there on our next vacation now that we have two kiddos! It looks like you had a great time! I love that you always take so many good pictures of your vacations. You are a great blogger...the bloggiest blogger I know! :) PS-Merry Late Christmas. I'm sorry we didn't get to see you this year.
ReplyDeleteWow Lisa,
ReplyDeleteSuch great pictures. I'm trying to figure out how you guys find the time to travel. It seems like you're traveling in almost every post. My hat goes off to you. Your kids are darn lucky have such great parents and the proof is in the pics. It's so funny to see your kids and you guys.
Also, I didn't know Ryan was a photographer. Does he take family pictures? Maybe we need to try him on for size.
How is your book... the looking glass wars? Do you like it? let me know! Hope you had a great Christmas. Loves....
Lisa!!! Love to read your blog and get to know your family. I LOVE Florida! Glad you had such a great time. Thanks for sharing all your cute pics

I made it to the end and loved every minute. So much fun, cute pictures and great memories - not to mention the 'bonding' time.
ReplyDeleteI'm a 'soak zone' enjoyer. What's the point of going to Sea World and staying dry during the Shamu show?! Of course, if you've done it once I guess you could stay dry on subsequent visits.
Haven't been to Costco. I'll bet if we had one in Vernal that would be my choice, but we usually head for Walmart when out of town because that's what we are familiar with.
I see from your top picture that you were in San Diego in November. No wonder Utah's winters seem so unbearably cold - Florida in Oct, San Diego in Nov! Good planning on your part. Where to in Jan?
Thanks, Lisa, for the post! It was almost like taking the vacation of a lifetime again! I loved being in the soak zone with my family, but if it were just me, I'd opt to stay dry too! BTW, Bruce watched the Utah game (stayed up till 1 a.m.!), and he loved seeing the helmets with JBW on them. :) He said the team played a marvelous game and showed great sportsmanship. JBW was proud of 'em, I'm sure! Love you much! Terri
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great post! I loved all of the pics. You must have a great photographer in the family. ;)This looks like such a great time! Wish we could have been in your suitcase to come with you. :)
ReplyDeletecostco on vacation? not if I can help it! :o) But it makes sense to load up on food there for a long trip.
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting this, Lisa! It's super cute to see all these wonderful pictures again. I miss the warm sunny days and the swimming pools... sigh. At least we have the memories. You did a great job w/the post, and of course I made it to the end! And Costco... I think if I avoid Costco for more than a week I go into withdrawal, so yes, Costco on vacation is usually a must (only if you have your own fridge, of course). Miss you guys!
