My vacuum really sucks.

I don't pretend to be a master housekeeper.

If you don't believe me, drop by unannounced on any given day.

Despite that, I do vacuum regularly and believe that our house isn't really dirty, it's just cluttered (it helps me sleep at night).

A few years ago we invested in a Dyson vacuum. It has been wonderful and has functioned without fail, unlike the three other vacuums we burned through within a period of 5 or 6 years.

In the last little while it has started to lose it's suction power... wait, doesn't Dyson claim to NEVER lose suction?

In the spirit of believing all advertising that comes before me (which is why I never watch infomercials), I called the customer service number listed right on the vacuum (how's that for convenience?).

The helpful agent taught me how to clean the filter (I knew this already, just needed to apply it).

Then he told me about a little U-shaped piece that just might be clogged. There is a handy button that pops it off--and this is what I found inside:

Disgusting.

I'm happy to report that my Dyson is functioning at full suction capacity.

If only it could sort and organize my piles.

I'll come organize your piles! In exchange for a Dyson of course. :)

I've always wanted a dyson vacuum, but can never bring myself to pay that much for one. We bought a cheapy vaccuum at Walmart for $50 and I can't believe it, but it is still working awesomely after 1 year. I've never had a vaccuum last that long.

I have one too, Miss Lisa, I think mostly for the bright colors that cheer me when I vacuum. I also love the cool hose that lets me vacuum my whole set of stairs while staying at the bottom. (The heavy part, of course, not me.) the upholstery/spinning part makes me giddy too. I didn't know we shared this in common! Yea for Dysons! I also didn't know about that piece. I will check mine. I don't think I've ever changed anything on it. Ooops. My next big want is a steamer. I'll let you know how it works if I get one.

Knowledge is power isn't it? Its a shame to think how much stuff we throw away or replace when it might just be a matter of not knowing what to do!!!

You are a crack up! My vacuum started malfunctioning a couple of weeks ago. I was getting my hopes up to get a Dyson (they have been on sale at Costco). I was sorely disappointed when Jeremy fixed it. Waste not want not, right?

funny just last week I was vaccuming one of the houses wondering if a "dyson" would work better than this one I used. plus a dyson comes in yellow (my favorite color) doesn't it? Love my one at home. Have "taken it apart" many times to clean out the overwhelming amount of hair from 4 girls and 2 (now 1) dogs. My kids say "that's gross" and I say? Just wait. You too will get to do this in time:) maybe they'll have all boys

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my Dyson. We have now had it for over 4 years and have never had any problems with it. How do you clean the filters? Doug just uses his air compressor to clean it. I would love to take it over to my inlaws house after a family party to see what is collected off the floor!
